Space Cases is a science fiction show created by the minds of Bill Mumy ["Lennier" from Babylon 5; Will Robinson from Lost in Space] and Peter David [writer of lots of stuff].

Brought to life by Nickelodeon, the show made a fantastic showing in it's first season, ranking as one of Nick's highest rated shows.
During the second season, Nickelodeon executives decided that they could do better than the writers, and began tinkering with the formula that made the show so wonderful. The second season didn't fare as well as the first because of this, and Nickelodeon decided to cease production of the show on, appropriately enough, March 15, 1997 [the Ides of March].

A campaign to save Space Cases began, and showed promise. However, Nick corporate offices and public relations both have decided to not only ignore every request ever sent to them, but have also decided to ignore the creators of the show, as well as the producers.

The Sci-Fi Channel made a request of Nickelodeon to air the shows on their channel, but Nick, after allowing the show to be shopped around, refused to negotiate on, at least what seemed, the basis of "if it does good on your channel, we'll look like dopes." What would lead them to have this kind of fear this late in the game, nobody can tell.

So, the show remains in limbo. Nick won't allow the show out to other channels [despite it's being shown in just about every other country in the world], they won't discuss the rights to the show with anyone, and, as of March 15, 1998 [there's that Ides of March thing again], they yanked the show from their lineup.

What is my small part in this big mess? In October of 1996, I'd started a small fan page dedicated to the show. Thereafter, a slew of Space Cases sites began to sprout forth. Soon, fans were creating fan-fiction based on the show... some good... some not so good.

However, my site grew along with the fandom. Today, I'm still webmaster of the first site that went online, and possibly the longest running site on the show.
